Clos de la Belle, Vin de Pays du Gard,
Remy Pedréno
Remi Pedréno of Roc d’Anglade owns a vineyard of one third of a
hectare in the region of Saint Gilles, to the south of Nîmes, and
north of Arles, in the appellation of the Costičres de Nîmes. Here
he produces an outstanding wine, from syrah with a touch of
Grenache. Yields are very small, and although the terroir is
theoretically not remarkable in any way, the loving care put into
this vineyard produces an outstanding wine. We only have a few
cases each year, but this is certainly a wine to search out. Quite
remarkable concentration and finesse. The 2001 showed very well in
our recent blind tasting, against Chave Hermitage 2001. |
